How To Remove Memes & Clickbait From Your Facebook Newsfeed

I wanted to share a newsfeed filtering tip for anybody out there who feels like their experience using facebook is just getting worse and worse over time. If you’re like me, you probably enjoy seeing your friends’ pictures, status updates, check-ins, etc. It’s nice to keep up friends new and old. However, what you are probably frustrated with is the clickbait videos, low effort memes, sponsored content, and maybe even the onslaught of political image macros. 9 of the last 15 posts on my newsfeed were this sort of content. And 100% of those 9 posts were ‘shared’ posts from other Facebook pages. It makes sense. It’s really low-effort to share another page’s post if you think it’s funny. Unfortunately, I think for some of us, we enjoy sharing 3rd party content more than our friends enjoy consuming it. If you’d like to completely clean up your newsfeed of shared posts, here’s how I did it. I downloaded this Chrome extension called F.B. Purity. Download F.B Purity from Chromestore Once installed, select the new ‘FBP’ button at the top of your Facebook page, and enter the word ‘shared’ into the text filter. Save. I’ve done this and my feed looks so much more enjoyable. Hope this helps any of you that might be going through the same thing I was. Remove clickbait by adding the word shared to your Facebook newsfeed filter
