Takeaways from the Wonderful Wizards of Moz

    Roger Moz

MozCon 2016, a three-day internet marketing convention jam packed full of thought leaders & industry experts, was everything I’d hoped it would be. It was marketing related (duh!), it was educational, but most of all it was inspiring.

There is a lot to be said about comradery. There is a lot to be said about how the right people and the right place can reinvigorate parts of your creative or ambition that have atrophied.

As a memento – and with no overall objective or theme – this post is just a few pictures I took while at MozCon and a few quotes that made an impression on me at least enough to jot them down.

The great part about digital marketing is that there are pockets of weirdos everywhere!”

So this is Roger. Roger is a robot. Roger is also the mascot for Moz. This particular Roger was unhappily stuck in an arcade claw machine at MozCon. If you are like me (and the 1,000+ other MozCon attendees), you couldn’t help but save him.

“Best way to sell something: don’t sell anything. Earn the awareness, respect and trust of those who might buy.”
“A wealth of information creates a poverty of attention.
“[When leading a user through the buyer’s journey]…You are not the hero in the story, the customer is.”
“People are 14% less likely to uncheck a box.”

    Happy marketing!
